TUSCON, AZ (02/21/10) – Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing drivers Bobby Santos, Derek Hagar and Justin Carver competed in the 4th Annual Rosemont Copper "Copper on Dirt" at USA Raceway in Tucson, Arizona over the weekend.

In Friday's qualifications, Derek Hagar led the way by piloting the #91 Silver Crown entry to the 5th fastest time overall, while Carver qualified the #991 entry in the 13th fastest and Bobby Santos III qualified the #199 team car 19th fastest on the board.

The main event was slated for Saturday, but persistant rains forced the program to be moved to Sunday afternoon. In the main event, Hagar would come home in the 8th position, Carver would finish 12th, and Santos picked up a 15th place finish.

"Hopefully we can start off where we left off last season," said Derek Hagar, winner of the 2009 USAC Silver Crown "Copper on Dirt" Hard Charger award.

Last year the driver of the No. 91 Hagar/ Conrad/ RE Technologies Dyno Tech FK Rod Ends car finished 5th at Manzanita Speedway. Hagar believes the tighter confines of the 3.8-mile dirt track will suit him just fine.

"USA Raceway sounds like the type of racetrack I like. Hopefully we will have the momentum of last year to carry into this race."

NEWTON, Iowa – For the second year in a row, Cameron Dodson won the Casey’s General Stores Challenge 100 Friday night at Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa. The win was the Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing team’s second at the 7/8 mile paved oval and their fourth podium since the track opened in 2006.

“I can’t give my guys enough credit,” said Cameron Dodson with a big smile on his face. “If it weren’t for them I would not be here. I would like to thank my parents and God for giving me a second chance at this.”

In front of a crowd of 18,102, Dodson started outside the pole and immediately dashed ahead of pole sitter Jacob Wilson, leading the first lap. Wilson would retake the lead on the second lap and lead the next 86 laps. Cameron Dodson then settled into a pace conserving his equipment, dropping back to third behind Bobby East but keeping the leaders in his sights.

“I just kind of chilled back there,” said Dodson. I really thought Jacob was on his game. I thought Bobby ran an excellent race. With about 25 laps to go, my spotter came on the radio and said that the 07 (Wilson) was starting to fall back and that I needed to concentrate on Bobby East.”

Cameron Dodson got by East and then on lap 89 retook the lead from Wilson. The Indiana resident was able to drive away from the field in the No. 991 Roush/ Yates Ford Engine powered, Red Line Oil/ Hemelgarn/ Johnson Motorsports Silver Crown™ car to win for the second year in a row at Iowa Speedway.

“Iowa Speedway is a great track,” added Dodson. “I am just happy to win here two times in a row. Hopefully we can take this momentum to (Oswego), New York.

CAMERON DODSON RETURNS FOR RICHMOND'S "JAMES RIVER GROUNDS 100" JUNE 27

Cameron Dodson of Greenfield, Ind., USAC's 2007 K & N Silver Crown Series "Rookie of the Year", returns to series competition this weekend in the "James River Grounds 100" at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway. He finished second to Chet Fillip is last year's Richmond 100-lapper. Saturday's race gets the green flag at 6:15 pm.

Critically injured in a November, 2007 crash on a public Indiana highway, Dodson has made a remarkable recovery and looks forward to his first race since that life-changing accident.

Dodson, who competed in a car fielded by NASCAR Sprint Cup star Carl Edwards, himself a graduate of the USAC Silver Crown series, will make his return as part of a two-car team backed by Edwards. Dodson's teammate will be veteran USAC racer Josh Wise of Riverside, Calif.

The now-20-year-old Dodson suffered injuries which could have ended his racing career. A brain injury, collapsed lungs, broken ribs and sternum, vertebrae fractures and injuries to his spleen, liver and kidneys resulted in a hospital stay of over a month but doctors were absolutely amazed when he finally regained consciousness and proclaimed "I've got to get out of here. I'll do anything you say." He was comatose for nearly a month while family and friends prayed for his recovery. Surprisingly, he awoke just before Christmas and just a couple of short weeks later he was home undergoing re-hab.

Dodson's career was skyrocketing when it was suddenly interrupted. His rookie Silver Crown season produced a victory at Phoenix International Raceway, three thirds, two fourths and a pole start at New Hampshire International Speedway. In 2008 he won again at Iowa Speedway and added seconds at Phoenix and also at Richmond.

"I guess God was watching over me," Cameron admits. "I'm really pumped about this weekend. I tested at Memphis Motorsports Park last week and ran consistent times. My chief mechanic Chris Santucci does a fantastic job and has been a great help in my return." Teammate Wise also tested at Memphis and feels that the team has a good chance at winning at Richmond.

"Carl (Edwards) called me when I got out of the hospital and I think he's just as pumped as I am about this weekend. I'm driving the same car I ran last year and hope this time I can put it in victory lane."

CARL EDWARDS/ R.E. TECHNOLOGIES RACING SCORES TWO TOP FIVES AT MANZANITA

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing drivers Jesse Hockett and Derek Hagar recorded two top fives Saturday night at the Sands Chevrolet Presents “The Copper on Dirt” in Phoenix Arizona. Hockett finished 2nd and Hagar 5th at the K&N USAC Silver Crown opener at Manzanita Speedway.

The weekend of racing started Friday night with heat races. Marion, Arkansas native Derek Hagar got the team off to a good start winning his USAC Silver Crown heat race in the No. 6 Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing Silver Crown car. Jesse Hockett finished second driving the No. 199 Roush/ Yates Engines, Ford Racing/ Red Line Oil entry. In the Copper Bowl Shootout, Jesse Hockett started on the pole and led all ten laps to win the race. Derek Hagar finished 9th.

Jesse Hockett’s win Friday night put him on the pole for Saturday night’s feature with Bud Kaeding starting outside the pole. When the green flag dr opped Hockett and Kaeding battled for the lead back and fourth with the No. 199 leading 26 of the 50 laps. With two laps remaining, the Missouri native hopped the cushion and the two-time USAC Silver Crown Champion Kaeding drove by and held on for the win. Jesse Hockett recovered to finish second, recording his first USAC Silver Crown podium. Derek Hagar started 9th but was persistent and powered by several cars to finish 5th. Hockett is 2nd and Hagar is 5th in USAC Silver Crown Series points heading into the May 22 “Hoosier Hundred” at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis.

DODSON RETURNS TO "COPPER WORLD" PODIUM AT PIR

Cameron Dodson returned to the victory podium at Phoenix International Raceway in his second appearance at the one-mile paved oval. Although this time it was as the runner-up. The twenty-year old racing standout from Greenfield, Indiana, soared to his "Copper World Classic" win last year and was poised to repeat.

Dodson's Carl Edwards/R.E. Technologies No. 199 Ford Racing machine delivered on performance and agility but the talented young driver had his work cut out for him. Facing premier field of open wheel aces as well as names like Ryan Newman, Dave Steele, and Jerry Coons, competition was fierce and track position is vital at PIR. Polesitter Bobby East had a significant advantage of pacing the field while Dodson had to advance four positions from his sixth place starting berth before setting his sights on East.

Unfortunately, cautions and the lap counter clicked off and Dodson ran out of time before the checkered flag waved. He was still able to bring home an impressive second place finish to bookend his runner-up finish at Richmond International Raceway that opened his 2008 USAC Silver Crown campaign. In fact, Dodson's win at Iowa Speedway for the "Casey's General Stores 100" was sandwiched between a pair of 2nd place honors in only four series' starts this season.

"Chris Santucci and the No. 199 Carl Edwards Racing/R.E. Technologies Ford Racing team delivered another great car that I was able to handle," commented Dodson. "I believe we had one of the best cars out there and could have really challenged East for the lead but we were at a disadvantage havint to work through traffic and starting sixth before havint that chance. Still, we were able to get one win this season and a pair of runner-up finishes in four races so every time we showed up, we proved we were capable of being out front. This will be a great way to go into the off-season and I am looking forward to what the 2009 season brings."

REIGNING “COPPER WORLD CLASSIC” WINNER DODSON LOOKS TO DEFEND TITLE

GREENFIELD, IN (November 5, 2008) – At only twenty years old, Cameron Dodson has impressive credentials to his credit including two premier USAC Silver Crown™ Series’ victories and the series’ 2007 “Rookie of the Year” honors all while competing in the Carl Edwards Racing/R.E. Technologies No. 199 Ford Racing machine. Although Dodson’s most recent win was in his last race entry at the Iowa Speedway hosted “Casey’s General Stores 100”, he enters this weekend’s famed “Copper World Classic” as the reigning event winner.

In the Indiana native’s first outing in the No. 199 this year, Cameron lined up 16th at Richmond International Raceway and advanced a staggering fourteen positions en route to a runner-up finish and honors as the event’s “Hard Charger Award” recipient. While Dodson has only competed in a limited USAC Silver Crown™ schedule during the 2008 campaign, he often steals the show whenever he is entered. Having their every move studied by their boss, let alone one of NASCAR’s best competitors, would make most young drivers nervous; however, Dodson takes a very different view on having team owner Carl Edwards at the track.

”Some people think that having Carl watch me would be added stress but it’s actually the opposite – he really helps keep me calm and focused,” noted Dodson. “He understands how things are from the driver’s seat and has so much experience at these tracks like Phoenix International Raceway that he can help me with my lines and adds a unique perspective that benefits our entire team. He often spots for me when he has an opportunity to be at the track with us and it’s always great to have him on the other end of the radio.”

With excellent equipment underneath him like the Yates-Roush Ford powered C&R Chassis, the 2007 Silver Crown™ Rookie of the Year has a high level of comfort in the No. 199 under the guidance of team manager and famed mechanic Chris Santucci. Santucci’s experience and open communication with his young driver have helped Dodson’s confidence behind the wheel and that momentum is something that the Carl Edwards Racing/R.E. Technologies’ team looks to carry in to Phoenix.

”Chris Santucci and the entire Carl Edwards Racing/R.E. Technologies team also work to give me the best handling cars on the track,” Dodson praised. “Our team is starting to gel and that confidence we have in one another has translated to wins for us. I can’t thank Carl, Chris, all of the guys at the shop, Ford Racing, and, of course, the Yates-Roush engine shop for their hard work and giving me this opportunity. Hopefully we can add another one of those Copper World trophies to our trophy case.”

The 100 circuits of the “Copper World Classic”, a three decade old tradition, is scheduled for a 9:40 p.m. EST start at the paved, one-mile oval of Phoenix International Raceway on Thursday, November 6, 2008, and is touted as the season finale for the USAC Silver Crown™ cars. Complete information on the historic USAC Silver Crown™ Series including additional event information is available by logging on to http://www.usacracing.com and the latest Cameron Dodson news can be found at http://www.camerondodson.com.

Dodson’s #199 Carl Edwards Racing/R.E. Technologies C&R Chassis is powered by a Yates-Roush Ford engine and carries sponsorship from Ford Racing, Red Line Oil, Hoosier Tire, The Wax Shop, The Joie of Seating, and Mechanix Wear.

CARL EDWARDS/ R.E. TECHNOLOGIES RACING SCORES SECOND PODIUM IN AS MANY RACES AT RICHMOND

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CONTACT: Blake Johnson (901) 210-8525

Memphis, Tenn. – Cameron Dodson and the Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing scored the team’s second podium finish of the season in as many races Saturday evening at Richmond International Raceway. Dodson and the team overcame mechanical demons earlier in the race weekend to pass thirteen cars to finish second and take control of the K&N USAC Silver Crown Championship Series owner points. The weekend started out with an ill handling car but the team quickly went to work making changes. The changes that Team Manager Chris Santucci and crew made paid off immediately as the No. 199 with power from a Roush/ Yates engine started knifing through the field. By the 8th lap on the .75 mile oval, Cameron Dodson had gained seven positions jumping from 14th to 7th. An early caution would bunch up the field but the rest of the race remained green. Dodson continued to move forward jumping up to 5th on lap 31 and then passed Levi Jones and A.J. Fike for 4th and 3rd respectively. Just after halfway, Cameron Dodson passed pole sitter Tracy Hines for second, turning the fastest laps of the race at 126.115mph, but leader Chet Phillip was five seconds ahead and with no caution flags Dodson and the Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing team settled for second.

“Our new setups on the No. 199 did the trick,” said Cameron Dodson. “Maybe if I had not conserved my tires we could have gotten the win but second is a good finish.”

The second place finish moved the No. 199 Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing team into first place in the K&N USAC Silver Crown Championship Series owner’s points. The team is scheduled to race back to back nights in Indiana first on the dirt of the Terre Haute Action Track on July 23rd and then on the pavement at O’Reilly Raceway Park on July 24th.

Ricky Stenhouse was in Canada over the weekend driving the No. 99 Roush Fenway Racing ARCA Re/Max Series car. He finished third at Cayuga Sunday afternoon and continues to lead the ARCA Re/Max Series points. Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing alum Peter Shepherd finished 5th. Michael Annett who drove in several pavement races for the Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing team in 2007 finished 11th in his second NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Memphis Motorsports Park.

STENHOUSE, JR. GRABS TOP-5 FINISH AT MANZY

Memphis, TN (2/17/08) - Carl Edwards/R.E. Technologies Racing and driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr. were in action over the weekend at Manzanita Raceway in Phoenix, Arizona for the Copper World on Dirt.  The team walked away from qualifying with a respectable 9th place starting spot for the feature event.  Stenhouse Jr. began his march to the front with the drop of the green and, when the checkered flag fell, was battling Bud Kaeding for second.  Stenhouse would be credited with a 3rd place finish.

The new generation pavement car that was introduced in the 2006 season has been shelved for the time being and will undergo an extensive redevelopment and redesign program.  As a result, the traditional pavement cars that have been the backbone of the USAC Silver Crown series will be returning for the remainder of the 2008 season.  The Carl Edwards/R.E. Technologies team has several of these traditional cars on hand and plans to build a new pavement car able to compete for the series championship.

In order for the teams to have ample time to prepare their cars, the May 8th event scheduled at Darlington Raceway has been cancelled.  The next scheduled event will be the Hoosier Hundred held on May 23rd at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis, Indiana.
